Moose Hunter Shoots Man On Toilet

Well hi there! Thanks for clicking by today. Wonderful to see you as it always is. Hunt down a mug of perky coffee and check out the moose-sized tray of delectable virtual treats awaiting your pleasure. Say...English is a strange language, isn't it? If the plural of mouse is mice, then why isn't the plural of moose meece? While we're talking about moose / meece, listen to this...

A moose hunter in Norway accidentally shot a pensioner who was sitting on the toilet in a nearby holiday home.

The rifleman had been aiming for the animal, but saw his wayward bullet pierce the wooden wall behind it and strike the unsuspecting victim.

Officials said the man in his 70s was rushed to hospital by helicopter from the site in the island Vesteroy, around 74 miles south of capital Oslo.

His injury was not though to be life-threatening. The moose also escaped unharmed.

Anders Stroemsaether, the policeman leading the investigation, said the hunter had been detained for questioning and the victim was likely to recover.

"He was in the toilet when he was shot in the abdomen," he told NRK.

"His wife said she does not hold a grudge against the hunter who shot her husband. She is of course upset by what has happened, but she is being taken care of by the police and her family.

"It is obvious that there is a risk involved in hunting. A hunter is always responsible for ensuring the background is clear when a shot is fired and everyone understands that what has happened here should not happen."

Well yeah, I can see the risk in hunting but this poor guy was minding his own business..or should I say doing his business when suddenly, BANG! The moose got away - the old guy on the toilet didn't. From now on when you sit down on the pot, check around to make sure there are no moose hunters lurking nearby.

See ya, eh!

Comment from Pat in Cornwall:

Hi Bob
Did you get out to Pumpkinferno at Upper Canada Village? Similar concept but a little closer adherence to a Halloween theme. Nice dinner available at Willard's inside the village. Still on tonight and maybe tomorrow.
Cheers
Pat

Bob's reply:

Nong and I talked about it but unfortunately did not make it. Our trip to Toronto for my mother's 'op' got us back on the 30th...then I had to scurry around at the last minute trying to find a pumpkin. Went to 5 supermarkets before I found one! I'll file it away for 2014...under 'things I haven't done yet but intend to'... Thanks Pat!
