The Downside of Cosmetic Surgery

Well, hello there! I'm tickled pink that you found time to click by today. You're just in time for a delightfully perky mug of Arabica and a virtual muffin. Boy, I've been enjoying the muffins here in the Durham Region of Ontari-ari-o. Low fat double fruit. Yum! Say...it's hard to go anywhere or watch TV these days without hearing about cosmetic surgery in one form or another. isn't it? Botox, tummy tucks, liposuction, you name it. Well... here's a different problem that looking gorgeous might bring...

A story from Chinese media in October reported that Mr. Jian Feng won the equivalent of $120,000 in a lawsuit against his well-to-do wife for deceiving him and subsequently giving birth to what Feng thought was an ugly baby. Feng discovered that his wife had had cosmetic surgery -- and thus was not, genetically, the beauty that he married but, in reality, plain-looking.

Ah-ha! She had a botox baby! And plain...ly unacceptable in China at least. Bear in mind that the Asian way of thinking does not always parallel Western thought processes. I remember a long time ago reading at the bottom of the front page of the Singapore Straits-Times (Singapore's National English paper) a story about a woman who took a fellow to court accusing him of raping her. The judge threw the case out because...wait for it..."Nobody would rape her...she was too ugly!'

What can I say...other than nothing?

See ya, eh!
