Teaching Dogs to Drive

Well, doggone it, it's good to see you today. Feeling a little 'ruff!'? Pour some coffee in your mug and snag one of those scrumptious-looking virtual muffins. Y'know...I remember reading and may even have written about a study showing that pigs were smarter than dogs. Well, let me ask you...how many pigs do you know of that can drive cars? (Now, now...behave!)

I don't know if you read about this in the news but apparently a New Zealand animal charity is actually teaching dogs how to drive cars.
While it’s a bit silly on its face, a clear purpose is behind this program from the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in Auckland — it wants to show that rescued dogs are smart and that you can train them for many things. The charity wants to find homes for its dogs, so it’s pulling out all the stops.

According to the Aukland SPCA, "Every year, the SPCA need to find homes for thousands of dogs — dogs who have been abused, abandoned, or just forgotten. They may be a mixed up motley bunch, but they’re all smart and they’re all lovable."

Can't you hear the news reporters commenting,
"It's a dog's breakfast out there on the roads this morning."
"There's a dogfight happening on Route 31"
"Ruff going on the highway today!"
"We've got a rollover on the M2 so sit up and stay...away from there."

Well, I'll tell you, there are lots of people out there whose driving leaves a lot to be desired. It seems as though as soon as they are unleashed onto the roads, there's no holding them back. Anyone'd think somebody was offering free beer up ahead, eh?

Aside to the SPCA in Aukland... do you think you can work on having those canines go get us some coffee and doughnuts?

"Fetch, Rover!Drive carefully."

See ya, eh!

Bob
