Brazil prison uses geese as alarm system

Hey! Great to see you as always! Glad you took time to click on by. Fresh pot of coffee to tempt you and, of course, a colourful tray of assorted muffins, doughnuts and pastries. Try one of the gooseberry muffins. Yum!

In case you missed it in the news, an overcrowded prison in northeastern Brazil has added a new layer of security against escapes: two geese.

Sobral prison warden Wellington Picanco says the geese make a lot of noise when they sense "strange movements."

He says the geese roaming the prison grounds also will help alert guards to the outbreak of violence among rival gangs at the overcrowded facility.

Now, I think that’s a good idea, don’t you? Geese can get some wonderful loud ( as they say down east) but, you know, I think they need a whole gaggle of geese.  The more, the louder, eh! A gaggle is at least seven, apparently. It is a gaggle of geese when on the ground or a skein of geese in flight…though I’ll let you get away with calling them a flock if you want.

A goose is a good thing…as long as you are not on the receiving end, eh!

See ya!

Bob
