Who is the Richest Person in the World?

Well look who's here! Nice of you to click by today. Fill your coffee mug, choose a delectable virtual treat and bring them over to the table. Boy, that was some scary picture yesterday, huh…the huge volcano sitting just under Yellowstone. Did you see the size of it? Holy Moly. Don't get it mad is all I can say!

But on to another topic today. Who is the Richest Person in the World? I can narrow it down for you…it ain't me! Did you say Bill Gates? Two years ago you would have guessed right. Warren Buffet? Nope. According to this year's Forbes Rich List, there are 1,210 billionaires on the planet. Bill Gates keeps giving his riches away to charitable causes and is no longer atop the heap of super rich dudes. While Bill was being charitable, Carlos Slim Helu, a Mexican telecom magnate snuck up and grabbed the top spot. He topped Bill Gates' $56B with his own $74B. Warren Buffett comes in third place with $50 followed by Bernard Arnault of France with $41B, Larry Ellison of Oracle with $39.5B. How about the Waltons of Wal-Mart fame, you ask? They're way down in 10 th place with a mere $26.5B.

I'm still working on my first million. How many million does it take to reach one billion? Depends where you are. In the US and Canada, 1000 million equals one billion whereas a British Billion is 1 million million although the US equivalent is generally accepted for counting who is in the elite.

Here in Thailand, 30 Baht = 1 dollar so becoming a Thai millionaire is 30 times easier. Think I'll start with that…
