“Devil’s Ear” Gold Nugget Found on Friday 13th

Hi ya! Welcome! Always a delight to see you. Hope you have plans to do something exciting today...other than dropping in on my virtual cafe, I mean. Coffee's brewed and the virtual treats are hot out of the oven. Smell delicious, don't they? Use your imagination. Nothing like the aroma of baked bread, pastry and chocolate...eh! Food for the nose. Well here's something about another sense...a golden ear...

Miners in Russia’s Irkutsk region found an oddly shaped nugget of gold on Friday the 13th, this month. The discovery scared them quite badly – especially because it happened on what superstition says is the unluckiest day of the year. It was also a full moon night, and to make matters worse, they say that the rock bore an uncanny resemblance to the devil’s ear.

According to the Bodaybo town municipal administration, the gold miners (who work for the metal mining company Ugakhan) didn’t immediately realize that the rock was made of gold. The sifting machine mistook it for a regular rock and discarded it. But one worker had the good sense to take a closer look, and he realized that it was in fact a large gold nugget weighing 6664 grams. Is it coincidence that the weight contains the devil's number...666? You tell me.

Let's see now...currently the price of gold as per goldprice.org is approximately $1313 USD per oz. (1313? Found on Friday the 13th...another coincidence?). So, the value of that ear of gold works out to...hmmm...6664oz x 1313/oz carry the 1 = $8,743,168 USD.

Hey, if they don't want it, they can FedEx it to me, okay? I'll even pay the charges!

See ya, eh!

Bob
