The Importance of Family

Yee Yaw! Good to see y'all. Y'er looking fit as a fiddle so why'n'cha git yerself over to the coffeepot and pour some java in yer cup, y'hear. Grab a couple of them there virtual muffins or donuts, too, y'all. Got some family news fer y'all...

On Feb. 9 a single traffic stop in Alderson, West Virginia, resulted in the arrest of six people from the same family, trafficking in stolen power tools (including one man who traded a leaf blower, hedge trimmer and weed trimmer for Percocet pills).

In case you don`t recognize the name of the town, The Federal Bureau of Prisons facility Federal Prison Camp, Alderson, was where media mogul Martha Stewart was imprisoned. It is the largest employer in Alderson. Marguerite Higgins of The Washington Times said that the fact that Stewart was sent to FPC Alderson was "a boon" for Alderson.

However, a month later, members of an even more charming family were caught in raids in Elyria, Ohio. Officers from three jurisdictions arrested 30 people -- all related to each other -- in connection with a $400,000 drug operation.

In the photo above, Elyria Police Capt. Chris Costantino stands next to a board put together by the Elyria Narcotics Unit displaying 30 recent arrests that have been made following a year-long investigation into a family-run cocaine trafficking operation.

The investigation into the large-scale drug operation was made possible by the Elyria Narcotics Unit, Lorain Police Department Narcotics Bureau, City of Elyria, Lorain County Sheriff's Drug Task Force and the Lorain County Prosecutor's Office.

Now ain‘t that sumthing! I‘d call it a family business, wouldn‘t you?

See y'all, eh!

Bob
